UTSA in 11th place after 36 holes of Bayou City Collegiate Championship

HUMBLE — The UTSA men's golf team shot its second straight four-over-par 292 and is in 11th place after 36 holes of the Bayou City Collegiate Championship, which is being contested at The Golf Club of Houston (par 72/6,897 yards).

Garrison Lackey fired a one-under 71 to lead the way for the Roadrunners, who are just one shot behind New Mexico State, three back of Rice and five behind South Florida in the 15-team field. Lackey, a junior from Weslaco, was steady in round two with three birdies to help erase a pair of bogeys and he is tied for 27th at even-par 144 with 18 holes remaining.

Bryce Alley followed a 71 on Friday with a 74 and he is one shot behind Lackey in a tie for 31st. J.J. Lindsey carded a 73 and is tied for 43rd at three-over 147, while Brett Hogan and Ryan Werre are tied for 50th (74-74—148) and 85th (85-78—163), respectively.

No. 15 Houston extended its lead to nine strokes after registering an 11-under 277 on Saturday, and the co-hosts are at 19-under (557). No. 21 Texas is in second (566), followed by No. 29 South Carolina (571), No. 19 Arkansas (573) and No. 31 Baylor (574). Houston's Wesley McClain leads all players at seven-under 137 (68-69).

The third and final round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
