UTSA tied for 10th after 36 holes of Bayou City Collegiate Championship

HUMBLE — Led by an even-par 72 from Brett Hogan, the UTSA men's golf team remained in the top 10 after the second round of the Bayou City Collegiate Championship, which was played on Saturday at Redstone Golf Club's Tournament Course (par 72/ 6,963 yards).

The Roadrunners shot eight-over 296 and are tied with New Mexico State at 12-over 588 with 18 holes remaining.

No. 3 Texas (-17/295-274—559) has a 13-shot lead over No. 37 Baylor (-4/286-286—572) in the 15-team field that features six top-50 squads. Charlotte is third (574), followed by co-host No. 36 Houston (576) and Louisiana Tech (578).

UTSA is one stroke behind Lamar for ninth and eight behind a pair of ranked teams tied for sixth in No. 41 Chattanooga and No. 43 South Carolina (580).

Hogan is in a tie for 23rd after carding 72s in each of his first two rounds. Stanton Tondre is three shots off Hogan's pace after turning in a 76 that put him at three-over 147 and in a tie for 40th. Garrison Lackey is 46th (74-74—148), Ryan Were is in 62nd (78-74—153) and J.J. Lindsey is tied for 70th (75-79—154).

Taylor Koser is 84th (77-87—164) competing as an individual.

Texas' Brax McCarthy, who is competing as an individual, followed his opening-round 67 with a 69 on Saturday and he will take a two-shot lead over teammate Julio Vegas (69-69—138) into Sunday's final round, which is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
