Roadrunners men off to Arlington for Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA's men's track & field team will begin postseason competition this week when it competes at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Outdoor Championships. The four-day meet is scheduled to get underway on Wednesday with the two-day decathlon at Mavericks Stadium on the campus of UT Arlington.
The first field event finals begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday and the track preliminary heats and selected distance finals are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Saturday's final day of action begins at 11 a.m. with the field events and the remainder of the running event finals will start six hours later (click here for complete meet information and this weekend's schedule).
Roscoe Robinson continues to lead the WAC standings in the long jump and he ranks ninth on the national leaderboard with a measurement of 25-9 ¼ (7.85m).
The Roadrunners currently reside atop the league rankings in two other events — Kerry Thompson (high jump) and the 1,600-meter relay — and Joshua Smith ranks second in the conference in the 400m hurdles (51.44), which is good for 21st in the country.
UTSA has won a total of four conference crowns and a total of 52 individual/relay championships in its history.
