UTSA set a total of four school records and picked up a half dozen gold medals at last weekend's season-opening Victor Lopez Classic in Houston.

Sophomores Keith Benford (high jump) and Phil Steinert (hammer) set new standards for the men, while sophomore Katie Bragg (hammer) and freshman April Benavidez (pole vault) established new marks for the women.

Benford, sophomore Nate Brunette (200m) and junior Ivan Garcia (10,000m) registered wins on the men's side and Bragg, freshman Nina Herrera (1,500m) and the 1,600m relay team of senior Shavonne Armbrister, freshmen Krystal Wynn and Grace Williamson and sophomore Briony Miller rwere victorious on the women's side.

Benford, who currently ranks sixth nationally in the high jump, and Bragg swept the Southland Conference's Athlete of the Week accolades on Wednesday.
