Roadrunners to hit road for Saturday contest at Southern Mississippi
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will be put to the test in their first-ever Conference USA road game when they visit Southern Mississippi (12-2, 1-0 C-USA) at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The contest will be televised on Fox Sports South.
The Roadrunners (9-5, 0-1 C-USA) are coming off their first defeat since Nov. 23 after falling to Tulsa, 73-62, on Wednesday in the C-USA opener for both teams. Kamra King and Mannasha Bell both reached double figures scoring with 15 and 11 points, respectively, but the Golden Hurricane shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the field and it shot as many free throws (21) as UTSA attempted to open the conference season with a win.
Southern Miss boasts the nation’s leader in assists per game in Jamierra Faulkner, who has dished out 8.8 helpers per contest. Faulkner also averages 14.1 points per game, second on the team behind Tamara Jones average of 16.6.
