SAN ANTONIO — UTSA's women's track & field program will return from a two-week hiatus this weekend when it competes at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Championships. The three-day meet is scheduled to get underway on Thursday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The women's pentathlon will be contested on the opening day. The first field event finals begin at 1:30 p.m. (CT) the following day and the track finals are scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Saturday's final day of action begins at noon with the field events and the remainder of the running event finals will start an hour later.
The distance medley relay of juniors Nina Herrera and Grace Williamson, sophomore Stephanie Wangui and junior Alyssa Diaz lead the WAC standings following their school-record performance of 11:41.25 at the Armory Collegiate Invitational. Meanwhile, sophomore Shahira Ehiemua ranks second in the 60m and three other athletes stand third on the league leaderboard heading into this week's event.
The Roadrunners have registered eight wins and set a pair of program records through the season's first five meets.
UTSA has won a total of three conference crowns and 55 individual/relay championships in its history.
