UTSA's season comes to end on Saturday at NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds
AUSTIN — UTSA had three Southland Conference Champions entered on the third and final day of this weekend's NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds, but the Roadrunners saw their 2012 campaign come to an end on Saturday when none was able to advance out of first-round competition.
Two-time Southland Champion Katie Bragg recorded a measurement of 175-6 (53.51m) on her first hammer throw of the day, but the league's all-time record holder was unable to move on to the quarterfinals after placing 43rd in the 48-woman field.
Meanwhile, the Southland Champion 400m relay quartet of freshmen Shahira Ehiemua and Chiugo Okonkwo and sophomores Krystal Wynn and Jhorden Hunter circled the Mike A. Myers Stadium oval in 45.68, but that only was good for 18th in the 24-team field.
Junior Eboni Johnson was UTSA's other competitor, but the conference gold medalist finished 45th in the triple jump with a wind-aided measurement of 38-4 ¾ (11.70m) on her second attempt of the night before bowing out due to injury.
