SAN ANTONIO — It will be a busy weekend for the UTSA track & field programs, as they will be in action at four different meets.
The majority of the Roadrunners' squad will compete at Saturday's Longhorn Invitational in Austin. It will mark the second week in a row that UTSA will participate at the site of the NCAA Preliminary Rounds. UTSA will face athletes from Houston, McMurry and Texas during the one-day event. Meanwhile, the Birds' distance runners are in California competing in a trio of meets.
UTSA began compeition at the prestigious three-day Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday and it also participated in last night's Cal State L.A. Twilight. The Roadrunners also will see action at Saturday's Long Beach Invitational.
Senior Dana Mecke broke her school record in the 1,500 meters on Thursday afternoon at Mt. SAC after clocking a 4:24.33 in a 27th-place performance in the 129-woman field. That shaved more than a second off her previous career best (4:25.38) established at the 2010 edition of the meet.
