Roadrunners to return to action at this weekend's Texas State Invitational
SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field programs will return to action this weekend when they head to San Marcos for the Texas State Invitational. The two-day meet gets underway on Friday at the Texas State Track & Field Stadium.
Athletes from Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas State will join the Roadrunners at the event. Competition begins at 11 a.m. on Friday with the decathlon, heptathlon and men's hammer throw and those will be followed by by the women's long jump and men's discus four hours later. The only running events to take place on the opening day will be the 1,500 meters (6:30 p.m.) and 5k (7 p.m.). The remainder of the events will be contested on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
The UTSA men are coming off a successful weekend that saw them post 11 victories and two school records at a pair of meets. Meanwhile, the women collected 10 gold medals and five other athletes finished as the top collegian at Friday's Trinity Tigers Relays.
