Track & field returns to action at pair of meets this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field programs will return to action this weekend at two different meets. Ten Roadrunners (eight men/two women) will make the trek north to Austin for the 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, while the remainder of squads will stay in town for Friday's Trinity Tigers Relays.

UTSA will begin competition at the Texas Relays on Thursday evening and it also will have athletes competing on the final two days of action at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.

Juniors Keith Benford (high jump), Richard Garrett Jr. (discus/shot put), Ronson Small (long jump), Phil Steinert (hammer), Tyler Williamson (long jump) and Darryl Wyrick (400m hurdles) and sophomores Keyunta Hayes (110m hurdles/400m hurdles) and Kerry Thompson (high jump) will represent the Roadrunners men, while senior Dana Mecke (1,500m) and junior Chenale Smith (high jump) will represent the women. Meanwhile, the Trinity Tigers Relays begin at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Trinity University Track & Field Complex and the meet wlll run until 9 p.m. when the 1,600-meter relays are contested. Click here the event's entry lists.
