Soza to be honored on Tuesday night at 56th Annual National Football Foundation Awards Dinner
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Eric Soza will be honored as part of Tuesday night's 56th Annual National Football Foundation (NFF) Awards Dinner at the historic Waldorf Astoria.
The senior quarterback from Beeville was named one of 16 NFF Scholar-Athletes on Oct. 31. Presented by Fidelity Investments, Soza and his fellow 15 honorees also comprise the list of finalists for the 2013 William V. Campbell Trophy, endowed by HealthSouth, which recognizes the individual that is the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation. This year's winner will be announced at tonight's ceremony, which will start at 7 p.m. (CT), and it will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the NFF's home page (footballfoundation.org). The Campell Award recipient is scheduled to be unveiled at 8:08 p.m. (CT).
"I'd like to thank the NFF for allowing a small-town kid to experience New York City," Soza said during Tuesday's morning's press conference. "We just started football three years ago and have come a long way. I know the leadership is great there and I wouldn't have wanted to play for three years anywhere else. I’d like to thank everyone that has allowed me to live out my dream."
