SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host a food drive sponsored by Whataburger prior this Saturday's Northwestern Oklahoma State that is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Alamodome. The event is being held in conjunction with Hunger Action Month.

Fans are encouraged to bring cans or non-perishable food items to donation bins that will be located in Rowdy Town in the North Plaza prior to the Roadrunners' second home contest of the season. Monetary donations also are encouraged and accepted. All items will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Anyone who donates a minimum of two cans or non-perishable items will receive one coupon for a free Whataburger while supplies last. This marks the second year Whataburger has partnered with UTSA to host a food drive for Hunger Action Month.

According to the San Antonio Food Bank, nearly one out of every four children and one out of every five adults in Southwest Texas lives in poverty and has difficulty meeting basic nutritional needs. Sixty-five percent of the people requesting emergency food have children.

UTSA and Whataburger are proud to serve this cause and encourage fans to donate to help those in need.
