Senior (2013)
Team captain started all 12 contests and earned honorable mention All-Conference USA accolades … second on the squad with 82 tackles (42 solos/40 assists) and a team-leading six of those stops came behind the line of scrimmage … added a pair of sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery … had a season-high 11 tackles and forced a fumble against Tulane (Nov. 9) … added 10 stops and a sack at Marshall (Oct. 5).

Junior (2012)
Team captain started all 12 games and was a second-team All-WAC choice at linebacker … played the opening four tilts at strong safety before moving back to linebacker for the final eight contests … led the team with 4.5 sacks, was second with 5.5 TFLs and fourth with 71 tackles (41 solos/30 assists) … added three QB hurries, a pass breakup and returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown (Oct. 20 vs. San Jose State) … had a season-high nine stops at Rice (Oct. 13).

Sophomore (2011)
Played in seven games, including six starts, before missing the last three due to injury, … third on the team with 61 tackles (32 solos/29 assists), including four for loss … recorded double-digit stops in three of his final five outings … also registered a sack, three quarterback hurries, two interceptions, three pass breakups and a forced fumble … became the first player in program history to record double-digit tackles when he racked up 13 (8 solos/5 assists) at Southern Utah (Sept. 17) … accomplished the feat again two weeks later at #16 Sam Houston State (Oct. 1) with nine solo stops and four assists in addition to picking off a pass for the second consecutive week … had a dozen tackles, two TFLs, one sack and a quarterback hurry against South Alabama (Oct. 8) … added another program first against Bacone (Sept. 24) when he brought back an interception 45 yards for a touchdown (first defensive score) … redshirted in 2010.

Prior To UTSA
Came to UTSA as a walk-on in Fall 2010, but earned a scholarship at the conclusion of the “practice” season … saw action in six games at Eastern New Mexico in 2009 and recorded a half dozen tackles (5 solos/1 assist) … a two-year starter who played defensive back and wide receiver at the prep level … a 2008 first-team All-District 28-5A selection … collected 79 tackles (47 solos/32 assists), including two for loss, four interceptions, three pass breakups, a pair of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a senior … also hauled in eight passes for 227 yards and four touchdowns that season … an academic all-state honoree … coached by Danny Padron.

Born March 5, 1991 … son of Christine and Bill Kurfehs … cousin, Corey Wootton, is a defensive end with the the Minnesota Vikings (previously with Chicago Bears from 2010-13) … exercise science major.
