Conference USA announces two more TV games for Roadrunners
IRVING — Conference USA announced Thursday that two more UTSA home football games during the upcoming 2014 season will be televised by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
The Oct. 4 contest against New Mexico will kick off at 2:30 p.m., while the Oct. 25 tilt with UTEP will start at 6 p.m. on the newly-created American Sports Network (ASN). The channel for each of the two games will be announced at a later date.
Eleven of the Roadrunners' 12 contests this fall now will be televised with the lone exception being the Sept. 27 league opener at Florida Atlantic.
Sinclair, among the nation’s largest television broadcasting companies, is slated to produce and distribute 100 events each of the next two years as part of its agreement with C-USA.
That encompasses an extensive slate of live, local sporting events, including 30 C-USA football broadcasts, basketball, soccer and other sports within the league. These exclusive games will be broadcast across different regions of the country and additional content also will be televised, such as the “C-USA Showcase” — the league’s 30-minute weekly program that offers a number of highlights and feature stories about the conference.
ASN is a collegiate sports initiative that will air on a number of Sinclair’s broadcast stations and it will be led by Sinclair Network Chief Operating Officer Doron Gorshein.
Sinclair owns and operates, programs and provides sales services to 162 television stations in 78 markets, reaching approximately 40 percent of U.S. television households. Its footprint includes ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, MyTV and NBC, as well as Azteca and Univision affiliates.
