SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will take one of its spring practices on the road on Saturday when it hosts a 1 p.m. open scrimmage at Smithson Valley High School's Ranger Stadium (14001 Texas Highway 46, Spring Branch, Texas 78070). Admission and parking are free.

“We’re very pleased that Smithson Valley has agreed to host a Saturday practice this spring,” UTSA head coach Larry Coker said. “Comal County is known for its love of football and we are excited to bring UTSA football to those fans. We hope that they will come out to meet our coaches and players and will enjoy the atmosphere of Roadrunners football on their home turf.”

Fans will have an opportunity to purchase Roadrunners merchandise, receive season ticket information and watch the entire two-hour scrimmage. There also will be an autograph session for fans immediately after the conclusion of the workout.

Four current Roadrunners hail from Comal County — former New Braunfels Canyon Cougars William Cavanaugh and Gage Hadlock and former Smithson Valley Rangers Cody Harris and Payton Rion.

UTSA began its spring practice season on Wednesday, March 26, and the April 12 scrimmage will mark the 10th of 15 scheduled practices. The Fourth Annual UTSA Football Fiesta Spring Game presented by HealthTexas will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Alamodome.
