IRVING — Conference USA (C-USA) announced Monday its complete football schedule for the upcoming 2014 season. The 13-team alignment will feature each team playing eight conference games, along with four non-league contests.

This year’s alignment will feature seven teams in the East Division and six teams in the West Division. Florida Atlantic, Florida International (FIU), Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, UAB and Western Kentucky will comprise the East, while Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Southern Mississippi, UTEP and UTSA will make up the West.

UTSA’s home slate will include league games against FIU (Oct. 11), UTEP (Oct. 25), Southern Miss (Nov. 15) and North Texas (Nov. 29) to go along with non-conference contests against Arizona (Sept. 6) and New Mexico (Oct. 4). The Roadrunners will travel to C-USA foes Florida Atlantic (Sept. 27), Louisiana Tech (Oct. 18), Rice (Nov. 8) and Western Kentucky (Nov. 22) in addition to non-league games at Houston (Aug. 30) and Oklahoma State (Sept. 13). UTSA has byes on Sept. 20 and Nov. 1. Please note that all dates are subject to change.

Each school in the West Division will play every team in its division once for five games, while playing three crossover opponents from the opposite division. Three schools in the East Division will play every team in its division once for six games, while playing two crossover opponents from the opposite division. Four schools in the East will play five opponents in its division once for five games, while playing three crossover opponents from the opposite division. East Division schools playing five division games were randomly selected by a computer scheduling application and two intra-division matchups in the East will not take place this season.

The 2014 schedule has 14 playing weeks, which provides for two open dates for each team. The schedule is a one-year model, meaning that as the conference lineup changes for the 2015 season with the addition of Charlotte, opponents may change and locations of games for that season are not yet determined.

The 2014 schedule complies with C-USA scheduling policies as approved by the Board of Directors in October 2007. In addition, the schedule provides the following:

· All teams start and finish their conference schedule with two games of one at home and one away;
· No team plays back-to-back conference road games in consecutive weeks;
· The majority of schools alternate between home and away conference games throughout the schedule; and
· Each of the schools primary and secondary special date requests were fulfilled.

A schedule of televised games will be released at a later date. C-USA’s national television partners are FOX Sports Media Group and CBS Sports Network for regular season games. The league’s 10th annual Championship Game, pitting the champions of the East and West Divisions, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, and will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2.

The Roadrunners will start spring drills on Wednesday, March 26. The Fourth Annual UTSA Football Fiesta Spring Game presented by HealthTexas is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at the Alamodome (time TBA).
