C-USA SAAC representatives volunteer at North Texas Food Bank
IRVING — Sixteen representatives from the Conference USA (C-USA) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered Friday morning at the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). The group, which included Roadrunners senior quarterback Eric Soza, made the visit as part of their annual meeting at the league offices.
Members of SAAC and their advisors split into two groups and helped sort produce for needy families. By the end of the shift, NTFB Director of Corporate Engagement Elizabeth Liser told the group they had boxed more than 300 containers, weighing more than 12,000 pounds, which provided 10,000 nutritious meals for needy families in the area.
The group also received a tour of the NTFB facility and learned how they could best execute their annual campus food drives as part of C-USA's "Let's SAAC Hunger" campaign, which is held each fall.
Other student-athletes in attendance included Amber Bennett (Tulane volleyball), Ashley Betz-White (Old Dominion women's basketball), Natalie Capone (Charlotte softball), Zane Gibson (Middle Tennessee men's basketball), Mary Kate Hays (Louisiana Tech cross country), Kaycee Ike (UAB football), Jill Jelnick (East Carolina softball), Brian Lozes (Tulane cross country), Dasman McCullum (Southern Miss football), Michael Mudoh (Tulsa football), Hunter Nix (UTEP football), Amanda Odato (Florida Atlantic women's soccer), Zach Orr (North Texas football), Christal Porter (Rice women's basketball) and La'Shae White (FIU track & field).
