Opening statement …
"I cannot say enough about the coaching staff and the job they have done. We have a good product to sell. We are excited about this class and we think it is a balanced class. We have good talent and academics there. We are looking for young men with character, good work ethic and players that love to play football. You have to love what you are doing and have to love football. We had great families that came on the visits and I think they like our future. We told them that we are a work in progress. We are not finished. They really bought into it. We had 25 players that signed and they are going to work hard."

On signing a full class of 25 players …
"It kind of just played out that way. I honestly would have liked to have two or three spots left, but it did not work out that way. These are guys we wanted, so you cannot turn that down."

On how special it is to add new players to the roster …
"Our coaching staff signed these guys. They worked tremendously hard and evaluated tremendously well academically and physically. These coaches are fun to be around. It is a special day. We do not worry about the stars or individual recruiting rankings. We evaluate if that guy can help us out. Does he make us better? This class will make us better."

On signing 17 defensive players …
"We want to sign the best players. We missed on some offensive and defensive players. There are several players in San Antonio that we did not sign. We did not sign a tight end. I think we already have three of the best tight ends I have ever been around in college coaching. We signed one quarterback, which we wanted. We signed two running backs. I think we filled the needs on the offensive side. We have all our receivers coming back so I think we filled our needs on offense. Defensively, we needed a little bit more help."

On recruiting five cornerbacks …
"We did not play the deep ball well last year. If you play defense, you cannot give up the deep ball. You will see these guys with their size and cover skills. I think we have improved ourselves at that position."

On what the position coaches were focused on during recruiting …
"We really wanted offensive and defensive linemen. The defensive end we signed (Justyn Eddins) was pretty huge for us. He is the best that we have seen on film. To get him was a great fit for us. The balance is what I really like about our class. Offensive and defensive linemen are hard to find. I think we did a good job with what we have and now we just have to coach them."

On redshirting the offensive linemen …
"I hope there is a redshirt year. We need to build this in the right way and we need some kids to stay the course. In order to do that, we need to redshirt some of these kids. It is rare for them to come in and start as true freshmen. Normally, they are not strong enough and not big enough. If we are starting a lot of freshmen linemen, then we are probably not really good on offense."

On if this is his best recruiting class at UTSA …
"No doubt. It needed to be. The coaches did a great job of staying on guys until the end. This is the best athletically and academically. This can be a very strong class."

On the program making big steps each year …
"The guys have really stepped up their intensity. They are bigger and stronger. They know what it takes. That will be huge for us. (Strength & Conditioning Coach) Charlie (Dudley) does a phenomenal job with those guys. They are on time, they dress properly and they work hard. They know they are getting better. We have got a lot of players coming back."
