UTSA to host fourth annual Lone Star Invitational
SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s golf team will host the fourth annual Lone Star Invitational this week at the Hill Country Resort Golf Course (par 72/6,931 yards). The three-day tournament tees off on Sunday morning.
The Roadrunners will compete against teams from Arizona, Central Arkansas, Denver, Houston, Houston Baptist, Illinois State, New Mexico State, North Texas, Rice, Sacramento State, Southern Mississippi, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State and Utah Valley.
The field will play 18 holes each day with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and Monday, followed by an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
This year marks the first time the Lone Star Invitational will be played at Hill Country Resort Golf Club, as it was held at Briggs Ranch Golf Club the past three years.

This marks the third fall tournament for UTSA, which finished 11th in its last outing at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. Senior Stanton Tondre leads the team with a 72.67 stroke average over six rounds and he posted the Birds’ top individual finish of 16th at the Tucker Intercollegiate.
The Roadrunners placed ninth at last year’s Lone Star Invitational behind Tondre and Ryan Werre, who both tied for 17th.
