UTSA rounds out 2012 schedule with home game against Texas A&M-Commerce
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head football coach Larry Coker announced Monday that his program will play Texas A&M-Commerce at the Alamodome on Saturday, Sept. 8. The addition of the contest completes the Roadrunners' 2012 schedule.
UTSA will open its second campaign on Saturday, Sept. 1, at South Alabama and the Roadrunners' home opener will come a week later against the Lions.
UTSA also will play non-conference home games against Northwestern Oklahoma State (Sept. 22) and McNeese State (Nov. 10) while making additional non-league road trips to Georgia State (Sept. 15) and Rice (Oct. 13).
The Roadrunners will debut in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) next fall. Dates have yet to be announced, but UTSA will host San Jose State, Texas State and Utah State at the Alamodome. Meanwhile, the Roadrunners will play WAC road contests at Idaho, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State.
UTSA finished its inaugural 2011 season with a 4-6 record and the Roadrunners set NCAA start-up program records for their opening-game (56,743) and average season (35,521) attendance. Spring drills will start in mid-March (date TBA) and the second annual spring game is scheduled to be played at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at the Alamodome.
