Inskeep earns first-team preseason All-Conference USA honors on Wednesday
IRVING — Conference USA (C-USA) released its preseason polls on Wednesday and Scott Inskeep earned a spot on the league's offensive squad.
Inskeep, a junior offensive guard, was a second-team All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) selection last fall. The McAllen native played in all 12 games (11 starts) and graded out at 79 percent in addition to recording 28 knockdown blocks, including a career-high 10 in the season finale against Texas State. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder was an integral part of an offensive line that surrendered just seven sacks in 368 pass attempts last season (t-2nd FBS). In fact, the unit did not allow a sack in the team’s first 152 passes of the year. UTSA averaged 390.2 yards (159.2 rush/231.0 pass) and 31:45 of possession time per game.
In the team standings, the Roadrunners were tabbed to finish seventh in C-USA's West Division. Defending league champion Tulsa is expected to defend its crown.
UTSA, which officially joined C-USA on July 1, kicks off its third season of play on Aug. 31 at New Mexico. The program is coming off a 2012 campaign that saw it post an 8-4 overall record and 3-3 ledger in its first and only season as a member of the WAC.
