Roadrunners to host season-opening UTSA Oak Hills Invitational this week

SAN ANTONIO — The Roadrunners men’s golf team will open the spring season this week by hosting the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational. The two-day tournament is scheduled to tee off on Monday morning at Oak Hills Country Club (par 71/6,765 yards).

Now in its 15th year, the event will begin with 36 holes with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. The final round is slated for Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. Admission is free.

UTSA will compete against teams from Baylor, East Carolina, Houston Baptist, Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Oklahoma, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, Tulsa, UTEP and Wichita State.

The Roadrunners placed fifth at last year’s event behind a third-place finish by Ryan Werre, who carded a two-under-par 211.

UTSA last played on Oct. 21-22 at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., where it placed 14th. Freshman Bryce Alley tied for 31st to lead UTSA after carding a 71-79-72—222.
