RUSTON, La. — UTSA scored in only three innings, but the Roadrunners plated multiple runs in each of the three panels en route to a 13-2 run-rule victory in seven frames at Louisiana Tech on Friday night.

UTSA (30-23, 14-11 WAC) overcame an early 1-0 deficit by plating four runs in the third, five in the sixth and four more in the seventh to close out the contest.

The Bulldogs (19-36, 6-20 WAC) managed only a fourth-inning score after taking the early lead.

Louisiana Tech committed four errors on the night, including three in the fifth, which led to a five-spot for the Birds.

The Roadrunners clinched the contest with a four-run seventh that was sparked by a pair of home runs. Daniel Rockett launched his ninth long ball of the season, a solo shot, while Horacio Correa III clubbed a three-run dinger to cap the scoring.

UTSA pounded out 16 hits and was led by Correa III, who was 3-for-5 with a career-high five RBIs. Rockett also was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and the solo home run, while RJ Perucki recorded three singles and reached base two other times on walks.

Michael Kraft (5-5) allowed only two runs (one earned) on six hits in 4.2 panels. The left-hander also walked three and struck out four.

Meanwhile, Logan Onda earned his first career save after giving up only one hit while recording the final seven outs of the game. The right-hander, who entered the contest with two runners on base and two outs in the fifth, induced a line out to end the panel.

Bulldogs starting pitcher Phil Maton (6-6) was battered for six runs (five earned) on 11 hits over his 5.2 stanzas.

Both teams will conclude their regular season at 4 p.m. on Saturday. UTSA will give the ball to southpaw Nolan Trabanino (3-3, 5.43 ERA), while Louisiana Tech will counter with right-hander Trevor Petersen (3-5, 4.11 ERA).
