UTSA to take on Abilene Christian on Sunday afternoon

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will take on Abilene Christian in a non-conference match at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club.

The Roadrunners (5-6) have lost four of their last five outings, including a 6-1 decision at the hands of former Southland Conference foe Stephen F. Austin last Thursday. Kavya Menon gained the squad's lone point with a straight-sets victory at No. 6 singles.

Isabelle Jonsson and Jacobea Junger both have recorded 7-4 marks in singles action this spring, while Menon has collected four wins, including back-to-back victories at the sixth spot. Jonsson and Alena Shichkova have netted four wins at No. 1 doubles.

The Wildcats (13-5) boast the No. 3 ranking in the ITA/NCAA Division II poll and they have won five of their last seven outings. Abilene Christian knocked off Midwestern State, 6-3, on Wednesday.

Laura Mongin leads the team with an 11-4 record in singles competition, while Mongin and Kaysie Hermsdorf are a perfect 7-0 in doubles play.
