SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's and women's track & field teams will open their indoor campaign on Saturday when they compete at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational. All the action is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m. at Gilliam Indoor Track & Field Stadium.
The Roadrunners will compete against athletes from the host Aggies, as well as Houston, and 11 events will be contested (60m/800m/mile/5k/60m hurdles/1,600m relay/high jump/pole vault/long jump/shot put/weight throw).
The women will send 34 athletes to the one-day meet, while the men will be represented by 32.
UTSA is making the move to the Western Athletic Conference this season before moving to Conference USA next year. One significant change for the upcoming season is the absence of NCAA automatic qualifying standards in each event. Instead, fields of 16 participants per gender in individual events and 12 relays per gender will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships field.
