SAN ANTONIO — After taking a week off from competition, the UTSA women's cross country team will return to the course on Saturday morning when it runs at the 24th annual Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.

The 6,000-meter race will go off at 10:30 a.m. All told, there will be 45 teams competing and more than 300 athletes representing their schools.

The event will be the Roadrunners' final tune-up for the Western Athletic Conference Championships, which will be contested in two weeks in Ruston, La.

UTSA saw its three-meet winning streak come to an end with a runner-up performance two weeks ago at the Grass Routes Grand Prix in Austin.

Junior Alyssa Diaz led the Roadrunners with a sixth-place performance. The Hereford native circled the 5,000m Hancock Golf Course trail in 18:55.08 to finish as the squad's top performer for the third consecutive outing. She is a two-time Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honoree this fall.
