Harrison named Western Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Sophomore Kenny Harrison was tabbed Western Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Harrison returned three kickoffs for 111 yards (37.0 avg.) in Saturday's 38-14 victory at Georgia State. After the Panthers took a 7-3 lead in the opening quarter, the Lindale native returned the ensuing kickoff a program-record 84 yards and junior RB Evans Okotcha scored a touchdown four plays later to give UTSA a lead it never relinquished. Harrison, who also caught one pass for 16 yards, finished with a team-high 127 all-purpose yards in the contest.
It marks the third weekly honor for the Roadrunners this season, as sophomores Sean Ianno and Triston Wade earned special teams and defensive accolades following the Roadrunners' season-opening 33-31 win at South Alabama.
UTSA (3-0) will look to extend its program-record four-game winning streak on Saturday when it hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State (0-3) at 1 p.m. The game will serve as the program's inaugural Hispanic Heritage Day.
