Rowdy Roadrunner
Position: Mascot
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Alma Mater: UTSA
Graduating Year: 1977
In 1977, UTSA had two contenders for a mascot, the armadillos and the stars. After a student vote was declared void by the Student Representative Assembly, another vote took place with two different contenders-the armadillo and the roadrunner.

On December 9, 1977 the roadrunner was announced as the UTSA mascot. He was named “Rowdy.”

Rowdy can be seen at all athletics events and is often up to no good. Watch out for this mischievous bird because he might be messing with you next!

Follow Rowdy on Twitter here and on Facebook here.

Interested in becoming the mascot? Contact Spirit Coordinator Jason Gregory at 458-6662 or jason.gregory@utsa.edu.
