SAN ANTONIO — It was a banner day for UTSA Athletics and the Roadrunners football program on Tuesday morning, as the PM Group presented Athletics Director Lynn Hickey and head coach Larry Coker with a $50,000 donation and the Northside Independent School District (NISD) announced a three-year agreement that will allow the team to use Dub Farris Stadium for practice.

In a ceremony that took place at Farris Stadium, NISD Superintendent Dr. John Folks kicked off the festivities by announcing that the district and UTSA Athletics have entered a partnership that not only will give the Roadrunners the use of the seven-year facility for practice but that the existing locker rooms will be upgraded to Division I standards.

“Dub Farris Stadium is a fantastic facility and we are extremely excited about having the opportunity to be able to use it for the foreseeable future," Coker said. "Dr. John Folks and Northside have been outstanding to work with in getting this arrangement set up and we’re really looking forward to having our first practices out here this fall.”

PM Group founder and Chief Executive Officer Bob Wills then presented Hickey and Coker a $50,000 check that will be used to fund scholarships for the first-year program that will begin play in 2011.

“We’re extremely grateful for the donation Bob Wills has made to help support UTSA Athletics and scholarships for our student-athletes," Hickey said. "He approached us after our trip to South Florida to review their football operations last fall and said he wanted to provide a scholarship for the football program. He originally said he would donate $20,000, but he upped that to $50,000, so we’re here today to accept his check and thank him for his contributions.”

The event also gave the local media their first access to seven of the inaugural members of the squad that signed National Letters of Intent in February. Robert Chapman, Cody Harris, Kam Jones, Sean Luchnick, Ferrington Macon, John Walker and Jake Wanamaker were on hand for the announcement and met with the five local television stations and four print outlets in attendance.
