SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's tennis team will travel to Corpus Christi this weekend to compete at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions. The two-day tournament is scheduled to get underway on Friday morning.
The Roadrunners (3-7) will open the event against Tulane (6-2) at 9 a.m. on Friday in a typical dual-match format with doubles followed by singles.
UTSA then will face either SMU or Western Michigan at 4 p.m. on the first day in a tournament-style format with singles first and the contest stopped when one team reaches four points.
Saturday's championship match is scheduled for noon.
The Roadrunners are seeking to snap a four-match losing streak after dropping all three on last weekend's road trip to the East Coast. Tomas Stillman collected three singles victories to extend his winning streak to seven and the junior now leads the team with an 8-1 record. Stillman and fellow junior Joel Rubio currently are ranked No. 27 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings after starting the year with a perfect 8-0 record.
Meanwhile, Tulane split a pair of matches last weekend in Birmingham, Ala. The Green Wave lost to UAB, 4-3, on Saturday before beating Samford, 6-1, the following day. Tulane began the season with three consecutive victories and it has won three of its last four outings.
Tulane defeated the Roadrunners, 4-3, in the last meeting back on Feb. 5, 2012.
