SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will have its final tune-up for the Conference USA Championships on Saturday when it travels to the Hoosier State for the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational. The 6,000-meter, blue division race is scheduled to be run at 10:40 a.m. at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course, which also is the site for this year's NCAA Championships.
The Roadrunners, who are sending a full contingent of nine runners, will square off against athletes from 50 other teams — Arkansas State, Baylor, Boise State, Butler, Cal Poly, Central Michigan, Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Florida State, Georgetown, Illinois State, Iona, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Lamar, Lipscomb, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Mississippi, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Ohio, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn, Penn State, Portland, Princeton, Purdue, Rice, Sacramento State, SMU, Southern Illinois, Stanford, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Toledo, Tulsa, UAB, UNC Greensboro, Utah, Utah State, Villanova, Virginia, Wake Forest, West Virginia and William & Mary.
Grace Kohler led a group of four UTSA competitors at last Saturday's UIW Cardinals Invitational by clocking a 23:54.14 en route to a 13th-place finish. In the squad's last full meet, Alyssa Diaz paced the Roadrunners at the Oct. 4 Notre Dame Invitational. Racing for the first time this fall, the senior from Hereford covered the 5,000-meter course in 17:56.4 and crossed the finish line in 48th place, as the Roadrunners finished 19th in the 24-team blue division race with 428 points.
