AUSTIN — Led by a two-over-par 74 from Chelsea Bretcher, the UTSA women's golf team moved up to 11th place after the second day of the Betsy Rawls Longhorns Invitational, which continued on Monday at The University of Texas Golf Club (par 72/6,143 yards).

Playing in her hometown, Bretcher shot an even-par 36 on the front nine that was highlighted by a birdie on the par-five fifth en route to carding a season-low round. It marked a six-shot improvement from day one for the senior from Lake Travis High and she currently is tied for 67th at 10-over 154 with 18 holes remaining.

Brogan Townend was one shot behind Bretcher on Monday, as she recorded a 75 and she is tied for 35th at three-over 147 (72-75).

Fabiola Arriaga, who posted UTSA's top score in the opening round with a two-under 70, shot a 76 and is tied for 30th at two-over 146. The senior from Torreon, Mexico, is nine shots off the pace set by Alison Lee of UCLA (69-68—137) and Mississippi State's Jessica Peng (67-70—137).

Taylor Newlin provided the other second-round score for the Roadrunners with a 78 and she is in a tie for 64th at 153 (75-78).

The Roadrunners turned in a 303 as a team and moved up one spot into a tie for 11th with TCU at 19-over 595. Those two teams are four strokes in front of Princeton (599), five ahead of New Mexico (600) and six better than tournament host Texas (601). Top-ranked UCLA took over the team lead with a six-under 282 on Monday and the Bruins are at 13-under 563. No. 8 Arizona State is second (566) and day-one leader Miami (Fla.) is third (568).

The final round is slated for an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
