TUCSON, Ariz. — Brock Hartson was tabbed a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Collegiate Baseball announced on Wednesday. Hartson is the sixth player in program history to earn the nation's most prestigious honor for first-year players.

Hartson, who emerged as the ace of UTSA's pitching staff this spring, sat out last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Fifteen months later, the second-team All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) selection currently is tied for sixth among the nation's freshmen with nine wins (t-47th overall), which also is a frosh program record.

The Pearland native posted a 9-5 record with a 3.40 ERA and struck out 50 batters in a team-leading 106 innings. He made 17 starts, posted one complete game and combined on a four-hit shutout with reliever Matt Sims at Louisiana Tech on May 16.

Hartson logged a 6-2 mark with a 3.61 ERA against WAC competition. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder helped the Roadrunners clinch the WAC Tournament Championship after he held Dallas Baptist to two runs (one earned) and four hits over 7.1 innings on three days rest. He also earned All-Tournament honors for his performance.

Riley Good (2011), Ryan Dalton (2010), Tim Palincsar (2007), Michael Rockett (2006) and Ryan Crew (2003) are the other five Roadrunners to earn Freshman All-America honors in UTSA's 22-year history.
