ARLINGTON — Eboni Johnson picked up UTSA's first and only individual title at this weekend's Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships on Saturday and the Roadrunners finished in fourth place in the team standings.

The senior from Channelview skipped to a measurement of 41-4 ¼ (12.60m) on her sixth and final attempt of the day for her second league title in as many years. She edged Texas State's Allie Saunders by one-and-a-quarter inch for the program's third all-time title in the event. UTSA now has won a total of 61 individual/relay crowns in its history.

Her performance also helped lead a 19-point effort by a quartet of jumpers.

Ernestine Cray, the WAC leader coming into the weekend, placed third with a leap of 40-6 ¾ (12.36m), while Laura Oseghae (38-5/11.71m) and Shantel Swift (38-4 ¼/11.69m) were seventh and eighth, respectively.

Texas State cruised to the team title with 179 points, while meet host UT Arlington (140) and Idaho (116) also finished ahead of the Roadrunners, who accumulated 100.5 in their two days of action.

UTSA also received third-place performances from April Benavidez in the pole vault (11-0 ¼/3.36m), Alyssa Diaz in the 5,000 meters (17:25.04) and Nina Herrera in the metric mile (PR 4:28.09). Herrera also added a pair of points in the 800m following her time of 2:14.92.

Meanwhile, Zaquita McClanahan placed fourth in the shot put with her second program record in as many meets (50-6/15.39m) and Grace Williamson also just missed a podium finish in the 800m (4th/2:10.29).

Other scorers for the Roadrunners (in order of finish) included their 400m relay (5th/46.31) and 1,600m relay (6th/season-best 3:44.55), as well as Shantel Smith (6th/400m/56.02), Isabel Balbontin (7th/5k/17:42.14), Briony Miller (8th/400m/57.28) and Emily Perez (8th/5k/17:47.98).

UTSA will be back in action in two weeks at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Austin.
