ARLINGTON — Roscoe Robinson won the 53rd individual/relay league title in UTSA men's track & field history to highlight a busy day of action for the Roadrunners on Friday at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships.

The school record-holder, who came into the meet at the top of the WAC standings and ninth nationally, broke the sand in 24-11 (7.59m) on his third attempt of the day and he edged Texas State's Timothy Young by four-and-a-half inches for the third league long jump crown in program annals. His performance led an 11-point effort in the event, as teammate Jonas Gutierrez placed eighth with a career-best leap of 23-11 (7.29m).

Meet host UT Arlington leads the team standings with 76 points through seven scored events. Idaho (56) is second and Texas State and Utah State are tied for third with 44. UTSA will enter the final day of action in fifth place with its 29 points.

Other Roadrunners who scored on the third day of the meet included Andrew Akens, who placed fourth in the shot put (55-8 ½/16.98m), as well as Ryan Elizalde (32:42.10) and Harvinder Singh (9:56.61), who placed seventh in the 10,000 meters and 3k steeplechase, respecitvely.

UTSA also advanced 10 entries into Saturday's running finals, including Gutierrez (110m hurdles/400m hurdles) and Christopher Hall (200m/400m), who both qualified in a pair of events. In fact, Hall clocked the fastest 400m preliminary time of the evening after circling the Mavericks Stadium oval in 47.35.

The four-day meet concludes on Saturday. Field competition is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m. and the running event finals will start six hours later.
