SAN ANTONIO — UTSA's women's track & field team will begin postseason competition this weekend when it competes at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Outdoor Championships. The four-day meet got underway on Wednesday with the heptathlon, but the Roadrunners are not scheduled to begin competing until Friday at Mavericks Stadium on the campus of UT Arlington.

The first field event finals begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday and the track preliminary heats and selected distance finals are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Saturday's final day of action begins at 11 a.m. with the field events and the remainder of the running event finals will start six hours later (click here for complete meet information and this weekend's schedule).

Whitney Flannel was named WAC Field Athlete of the Week on May 1 after moving to the top of the league’s high jump standings at the Bobcats Classic (April 27). She recorded a career-best measurement of 5-9 ¼ (1.76m) en route to posting hertt second victory in as many weeks.

Meanwhile, Ernestine Cray also owns a conference-leading measurement of 42-2 ¾ (12.87m) the triple jump and that ranks 22nd nationally.

UTSA has registered 19 gold medals through the season's first eight meets and Zaquita McClanahan broke the program's 19-year-old shot put record with a measurement of 50-0 (15.24m) two weeks ago at the Bobcats Classic.

The Roadrunners just missed their first conference team title since 1997 at last year's Southland Conference Championships when they finished only six points behind I-35 rival Texas State. UTSA has won a total of five conference crowns and 60 individual/relay championships in program history.
