SAN ANTONIO — Third-seeded UTSA will take on No. 6 seed UT Arlington in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) at the Gates Tennis Center in Denver, Colo.

The Roadrunners (12-10), who have won four of their last six matches, will begin their quest for their fourth appearance in the NCAA Championships. The Birds won two of their last three appearances in the Southland Conference Tournament.

David Kelleher leads UTSA, which earned the third seed after posting a 3-1 mark in league play, with a 14-7 record in singles action and he was a perfect 4-0 in WAC play. Martin Ayala and Diogo Casa also have combined to post a 16-3 mark at No. 1 doubles.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks (7-13), who have lost eight of their last 10, finished sixth in the league standings after netting a 1-5 mark against conference foes.

Carlos Arbiza and Marek Pesicka each have registered nine wins apiece to pace UT Arlington in singles competition, while Arbiza and Yauheni Yakauleu have recorded eight victories in doubles action.

The Roadrunners and Mavericks previously met on March 30 in Arlington with UTSA posting a come-from-behind 4-1 victory. The Birds lost the doubles point and were forced to rally by winning four of the six singles matchups.
