SAN ANTONIO — UT Arlington plated 10 runs in the sixth inning and cruised to a 15-2, run-rule victory in seven innings at UTSA on Sunday afternoon at Roadrunner Field.

The Mavericks (12-11, 2-1 WAC) scored in only two frames, they but batted around both times.

UT Arlington sent 11 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the third and 15 hitters helped push across 10 tallies in the sixth to build a commanding 15-0 advantage.

Right-hander Zach Thompson and southpaw Keegan Hucul combined on a four-hitter.

Thompson (2-2) picked up the victory after limiting the Roadrunners (14-10, 1-2 WAC) to two runs on four hits in six innings of work. Hucul finished the game with a perfect seventh.

UTSA used six pitchers on the day, but right-handed starter Justin Anderson (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits in his two-plus stanzas.

The Mavericks, who set a season high for runs scored in the contest, pounded out 14 hits, including four for extra bases.

Matt Shortall led the way with three knocks, including a pair of doubles, and five RBIs.

Meanwhile, RJ Perucki picked up two hits to pace the Birds.

UTSA scored its lone runs in the sixth on Horacio Correa III's run-scoring single and Rodney Garza's sacrifice fly.

The Roadrunners will continue their seven-game home stand against Baylor (11-13) on Tuesday, March 26. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Wolff Stadium.
