Southern Miss topples Roadrunners on Friday, 4-1

SAN ANTONIO — Southern Mississippi handed UTSA a 4-1 home setback on Friday in a meeting between future Conference USA opponents.

The Roadrunners (7-7) fell behind early after dropping doubles tilts at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots.

The Golden Eagles (11-6) then picked up three victories in singles action at the second, fourth and sixth positions.

UTSA collected its lone point at No. 5 singles when David Kelleher cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Paulo Alvarado.

First and third singles went unfinished.

The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, March 23, when they host Laredo Community College. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
