UTSA men finish 12th at NCAA South Central Regional on Friday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sophomore Mike Medrano led UTSA to a 12th-place finish at Friday's NCAA South Central Regional.
Medrano just missed earning all-region honors with his 28th-place performance. The Mission native covered the 10,000-meter Agri Park trail in 31:40.5 and he finished the campaign as the Roadrunners' top finisher in all but one race.
Fellow sophomore Harvinder Singh crossed the line 56th in 32:44, while junior Kyle Hawley was two spots behind his teammate (32:44.8).
UTSA's other scorers included junior Nathan Collier (64th/32:55.2) and senior Daniel Balbontin (76th/33:16.3).
The Roadrunners finished the meet with 273 points en route to 12th place.
Defending champion Texas won the team title with 38 and Arkansas earned the other berth to next weekend's NCAA Championships with its runner-up showing (53).
Meanwhile, Texas A&M's Henry Lelei successfully defended his individual crown in 29:36.5.
