KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Junior Taylor Newlin and freshman Brogan Townend each fired one-under par 71s and UTSA finished in sixth place with an 880 (292-299-289) on the final day of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships.

The Roadrunners final round of 289 was the fourth-best score of the day and their lowest of the fall. The squad finished just four strokes out of the top five and six strokes ahead of No. 14 Iowa State.

Newlin produced her best round of the campaign with three birdies and the Frisco native climbed into a tie for 23rd with a 221 (72-78-71).

Meanwhile, Townend finished with the best round of her brief collegiate career thanks to four birdies. The Blackburn, England, native finished in a tie for 62nd with a 234 (85-75-71).
