TULSA, Okla. — Senior Tyler Brown advanced to the third round of pre-qualifying at the 2012 ITA All-American Championships to lead the UTSA men's tennis team last weekend.
Brown posted back-to-back straight-sets victories to advance to the third round where he outlasted by Old Dominion's Albert Ochagavia in three frames. The New Braunfels native kicked off tournament play with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Purdue's Evan Hawkins before sweeping LSU's Joe Hill by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
Sophomore David Kelleher also won his first-round contest against North Florida's Leo Nahar (7-6, 3-6, 6-3). His run came to an end in the following round after Illinois State's Erik Burnskog rallied to win in three sets.
The Roadrunners will continue their fall campaign on this weekend at the Lamar Invitational. The three-day tournament is scheduled to get underway on Friday, Oct. 5.
