FRISCO — Senior Jorge Delgado and junior Daniel Moreiras were named to
the Southland Conference’s All-Academic first-team, the league office
announced on Tuesday.
Delgado, who maintains a 3.21 grade-point average (gpa) in finance, recently
concluded his UTSA career with 24 singles wins and seven doubles victories. The El Paso native earned first-team all-conference accolades this past spring at No. 6
singles with a 12-3 mark. He helped the Roadrunners capture the
program’s second-ever Southland Tournament Championship and a trip to
the NCAA Tennis Championship.
Moreiras, who was a first-team selection last season, maintains a
team-best 3.46 gpa in mechanical engineering. The San Antonio native
led the squad with a 14 doubles wins and ranked second
on the team with a dozen singles triumphs in 2010. Moreiras paired up with freshman Martin
Ayala to post a perfect 7-0 mark in doubles competition. He also had the
match-clinching win against UT Arlington at the Southland Tournament on April 25 in Corpus Christi.
