SAN ANTONIO — UTSA wrapped up a busy Saturday with its first practice of fall camp, a spirited, two-hour evening workout at the Main Campus Practice Facility.

The Roadrunners donned shorts and went without pads for the first official workout of the program's fourth season. It marked the first-ever fall practice at the on-campus facility, as UTSA used nearby Dub Farris Stadium for its previous three preseason camps.

"I thought the guys came out with great energy and focus, plus the weather was outstanding tonight," head coach Larry Coker said. "That kind of energy is what you like to see in your first workout and obviously you want it to continue throughout camp. I saw some great things out there and you can tell this is a veteran team just by watching them practice. Overall, I was very pleased."

The Birds began the day with the annual Photo/Media Day at the Convocation Center. That was followed by the inaugural UTSA Fan Appreciation Day event, with more than 300 fans on hand for a meet-and-greet with the players and coaches.

Fall camp will continue on Sunday afternoon with another two-hour session in shorts. The first workout in shells is slated for Monday morning and the team will wear full pads for the first time on Wednesday.
