SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host its last home match of the season at noon on Thursday against Lamar.

The Roadrunners (9-7) rallied from an early deficit on Monday to defeat I-35 rival Texas State, 5-2, to pick up their fourth consecutive victory.

Miriam Rosell Canudas breezed to her eighth straight win at the No. 2 position to improve to a team-leading 13-3 this spring, while Jacobea Junger picked up her fifth win in a row, which pushed her singles record to 10-5. Isabelle Jonsson, the squad's lone senior, also has found a rhythm by winning four straight singles outings.

Junger and Rosell Canudas have continued their strong play in doubles action, as the pair has posted an 11-1 mark this spring, including 10 consecutive triumphs.

Prior to Thursday’s matchup, Jonsson will be honored as part of Senior Day fesitivites. A native of Sweden, she has been a mainstay in UTSA’s singles and doubles lineups in each of the past four years. Jonsson has won a total of 36 singles matches in her four years as a Roadrunner and has added another 26 in doubles play. She was a 2012 second-team All-Southland Conference selection at No. 2 singles and twice has been honored for her work in the classroom by both the Southland and Western Athletic Conference.

Despite strong performances from Katya Lapayeva and Dariya Dashutina, the Lady Cardinals (4-9) fell by a score of 5-2 to Central Arkansas on Saturday for their fifth loss in their last six matches. Lapayeva picked up her team-leading ninth singles victory, while Dashutina came from behind for a 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 decision at the top position.

Lamar slipped past the Roadrunners, 4-3, in the last meeting back on April 14, 2012.
