NEW ORLEANS, La. — Eric Soza and fellow members of this year's Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, college football’s preeminent community service award, brought their passion for volunteerism to The Cresent City on New Year's Day by teaching local children the fundamentals of football.

The 22 student-athletes, as well as former New Orleans Saints Pro Bowler and Good Works Team member Jon Stinchcomb, shared their knowledge and skills with more than 200 children from the YMCA of Greater New Orleans at Isidore Newman School as part of the special clinic before leading the group through a series of drills and skills competitions.

The children were under the impression that they were going to participate in a normally-scheduled sports clinic and were surprised as this year's squad was introduced one by one in their game jerseys.

Before the event, Allstate made a $10,000 donation to the YMCA of Greater New Orleans to further the organization’s mission and this year's Good Works Team was honored during halftime of Thursday's Sugar Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
