UTSA to continue campaign on Friday night at Texas Invitational
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to action on Friday night when it makes the trek up IH-35 to participate at the Texas Invitational.
The women's 5,000-meter run is scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m. at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock and the Roadrunners will compete against runners from meet host Texas and Houston Baptist.
UTSA was led by Conference USA Athlete of the Week Nina Herrera at last Friday's Ricardo Romo Classic.
Herrera raced to a second-place finish and led the Roadrunners to a runner-up performance at their annual home meet. The senior from El Paso covered the soggy 5K course in 17:56.6 and she now has finished as the team's top finisher at the last two meets.
It marked the third weekly honor of her four-year career, as she earned consecutive Southland Conference Athlete of the Week accolades during the 2011 campaign (Sept. 13 & 20).
