SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head football coach Larry Coker announced Wednesday
that Tevin Broussard (Beaumont, Texas/Central HS/Blinn [Texas] JC), Andre Brown (Tampa, Fla./Alonso HS/College of the Desert [Calif.]), Jens
Jeters (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley HS/Pierce
[Calif.] JC) and Brian Price (Lafayette, Ind./McCutcheon HS/Allan
Hancock [Calif.] JC) have signed National Letters of Intent to join his
program for the 2013 season.
“We are very excited about signing these four junior college players,”
Coker said. “All four of them are high-character young men who we expect
will have an immediate impact on our program.”
Broussard is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive back who played for Ronny
Feldman at Blinn College in Brenham. He is coming off a sophomore season
that saw him earn honorable mention All-Southwest Junior College
Football Conference accolades. The Beaumont native
started all 10 games and registered 76 tackles, including seven for
loss, two interceptions, a pair of fumble recoveries and two forced
fumbles. He was a second-team all-league honoree as a redshirt freshman
after helping lead the Buccaneers to a 9-2 record.
Broussard started all 10 games that year and racked up 47 tackles, two
TFLs, one interception and a fumble recovery. He garnered first-team
All-District 20-4A laurels in 2009 as a prep senior at Central High
School.
Brown is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back who played the last two
seasons for Dean Dowty at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert,
Calif. He played in eight games as a sophomore this past fall and racked
up 33 tackles (22 solos/11 assists), three interceptions,
eight pass breakups and a pair of blocked kicks. That came on the heels
of a freshman campaign that saw him appear in two contests at wide
receiver. A native of Tampa, Fla., Brown graduated from Alonso High
School in 2007 and he has two years of eligibility
remaining.
Jeters is a 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker who played for Efrain
Martinez last year at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif. He was a
first-team All-Pacific Conference selection as a freshman after
recording 57 tackles (36 solos/21 assists), 9.5 TFLs and
a sack for the Brahmas, who posted a 9-2 record en route to a Patriotic
Bowl Championship this past season. The Simi Valley, Calif., native did
not play in 2011 and will have three years of eligibility with the
Roadrunners. A three-year prep starter at linebacker
and running back, Jeters earned second-team All-Marmonte League honors
as a senior after posting 62 stops (39 solos/23 assists), three sacks,
an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He also
rushed for 334 yards and five touchdowns and caught
14 passes for 152 yards and another score in 2010. Jeters earned
second-team all-league honors as a junior after racking up 102 tackles
(62 solos/35 assists), a pair of sacks, two forced fumbles and four pass
breakups and he also was an honorable mention all-conference
selection as a sophomore. He is the fourth player to join UTSA from
Pierce (Franky Anaya, Cody Berry, Brandon Reeves are the others).
Price is a 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive lineman who played for Kris
Dutra this past season at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif.
He was a second-team All-Northern Conference selection as a true
freshman after ranking second on team with 61 tackles
(20 solos/41 assists), including four for loss and a half sack in nine
games of action. The Lafayette, Ind., native had a pair of double-digit
tackle performances in 2012, including a career-best 11 against
Bakersfield College on Nov. 3. Price, who has three
years of eligibility remaining, earned all-state, all-area and
all-conference honors his final two prep seasons at McCutcheon High
School.
