IRVING — Megan Low was named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The Spring native hit .556 (5-for-9) with a double, three home runs, four runs scored and 10 RBIs during the Roadrunners’ season-opening sweep of Lamar that gave the squad its first 3-0 start since 2006. In the first game of last Saturday’s doubleheader, Low went 2-for-3 with a double and homered en route to the victory.
In game two, she tied the school’s single-game record with seven RBIs by hitting a grand slam and three-run homer as part of a 16-run second inning. Randee Crawford also hit a grand slam in the frame to help UTSA tie an NCAA record with two four-run blasts in the same inning.
Low finished the weekend with a .667 on-base percentage and totaled four extra-base hits for a 1.667 slugging percentage.
Meanwhile, FIU freshman Stephanie Texeira also was named C-USA Co-Player of the Week after hitting .714 (10-for-14) with four doubles and five RBIs to help the Panthers start the season 4-1.
UTSA (3-0) will return to the diamond on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup at No. 10 Texas (4-2).
