UTSA to race at presigious Notre Dame Invitational on Friday
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to action on Friday afternoon when it competes at the 58th annual Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
There will be more than 1,200 competitors at the presigious event, which features a total of four collegiate races. The Roadrunners will square of against seven nationally-ranked teams in the blue 5,000-meter run, which is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. (CT). Air Force, Baylor, Bradley, No. 28 BYU, Colorado State, fourth-ranked Duke, No. 2 Florida State, Illinois, Lamar, Lipscomb, Missouri, 15th-ranked New Mexico, No. 19 Notre Dame, Northwestern, Ohio, Ohio State, 30th-ranked Princeton, Purdue, No. 24 San Francisco, SMU, Southern Utah, UAB, UTEP and Youngstown State will join UTSA in the 25-team field.
Emily Perez helped lead the Roadrunners to a runner-up finish at last Friday's Texas Invitational in Round Rock. The sophomore from Mission covered the Old Settlers Park 5,000-meter loop in 17:36.61 and she crossed the finish line as the squad's top performer for first time this fall.
